The successful candidate will have significant experience in the drilling and/or service rig industry specifically in the field of operations and engineering. This role oversees the day-to-day committee operations and various industry led Initiatives and works to build strategic partnerships with Association stakeholders including government, industry and members.   • NOW HIRING — Communication Specialist: Media Relations (maternity leave position)
    As a member of the communications team, the Communication Specialist—Media Relations helps effectively communicate CAODC and industry key messaging to internal and external stakeholders. Working out of our Calgary office and reporting to the Vice President—Communications, this position is responsible for maintaining and producing content for existing communication channels; writing/producing content for the Association magazine; providing relevant ideas/content for social media, speeches, podcasts, etc.; providing support for media campaigns; identifying communication challenges; and providing value to members by consistently and effectively advocating for the Canadian drilling and well servicing industry.   • 2018 CAODC Speaker Series #2 (May 22, 2018)
    The CAODC/CAPP Master Daywork and Master Well Services Contracts are the most equitable split between risk and liability that can be provided in a drilling or service rig contract. Brian Davison, Q.C. was one of the principal architects of the Contracts and for more than 16 years has advised CAODC on matters relating to them. In this second presentation of the 2018 CAODC Speaker Series, Brian will discuss the nuances of the CAODC/CAPP Master Daywork and Master Well Services Contracts and their specific legal precedents.     General DR and SR membership meetings for our Saskatchewan members are being planned for June 13, 2018 at the Days Inn in Estevan, SK.  More information to follow.
  • CAODC Website/Member Portal
    The Association has launched a new website and Member Portal. The new site is easier to use and offers more features to our members, giving them greater control over their membership information. We wanted to create a website that is responsive across all platforms, from mobile to desktop. The new site can be found here, site FAQs and a full site map can be found here, and tutorial videos on new content and processes can be found here.
  • University of Fredericton Certificate in Health, Safety and Environmental Processes Scholarship Program (CAODC)
    The University of Fredericton is pleased to provide an annual scholarship program to their online, award-winning Certificate in Health, Safety and Environmental Processes program, in honour of Tim Downing and his contributions to the occupational health and safety profession.   • RENEWAL, SaskPower MOU (DR/SR)
    This bulletin provides a renewed copy of the MOU established between the CAODC, SaskPower, and the Ministry of Energy and Resources – Petroleum and Natural Gas Division regarding electrical inspections and the grounding of rig equipment. Note that the renewed agreement does not come into effect until April 30, 2018. Click here to download a copy of the current agreement if required.
  • CAODC Flowback to Service Rig Open Top Tank Checklist
    Please be advised that this publication has been recently amended to better align with the requirements outlined in DACC IRP #04 – Well Testing and Fluid Handling.   • Movement of Oversize/Overweight Vehicles in Saskatchewan, Process Clarification re: ‘CAODC Approved Service Rig List’
    For the purposes of applying for a Movement of Oversize and Overweight Vehicle Permit in Saskatchewan (i.e. a tri-drive rig with a drive axle weight over 27,000 kg), this bulletin describes what a member’s responsibilities are when it comes to maintaining their status on the ‘CAODC Approved Service Rig List.’ Click here to download a copy of the T-18-02 bulletin.
  • Securement of BOP Hoses in Alberta, Cautionary Notice
    This bulletin addresses the issue of OHS enforcement officers in Alberta who were previously requiring that drilling and well servicing members install securement devices on all of their BOP hydraulic hoses. Click here to download a copy of the T-18-01 bulletin.

  • PSC – Canada’s Premier Oil & Gas Safety Conference and Tradeshow (May 1-3, 2018)
    One of the most enduring events in Canada’s oil and gas industry is the annual Petroleum Safety Conference (PSC). Every year since its founding in 1951, PSC has connected health and safety experts and influencers, safety supervisors, and companies to the latest in health and safety knowledge, products and services.   • ESC Formal Hazard Assessment Workshops
    ESC is conducting Formal Hazard Assessment Workshops throughout the year in Calgary, Nisku and Fort St. John. Workshops are free and intended to provide employers and ESC certified auditors with information on the Formal Hazard Assessment process as it relates to the ESC COR and SECOR Audit Protocols. Oil Respect

  • Support the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project
    Protesters and some government policymakers continue to delay construction on the vital Trans Mountain expansion project. Oil respect is asking you to support the project by sending a letter or email message to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Minister of Natural Resources, Jim Carr. We encourage all supporters to use this letter or write a letter of their own, and send it by Canada Post or email to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ([email protected]) and the Honourable Jim Carr ([email protected]). We also ask that you circulate the letter widely among your colleagues and social circles and have them do the same. More information can be found here.
